JAMIE TOWNSEND

Painter, Illustrator, and Sculptor

“With a few strokes, using a much too large paint brush,
Jamie captures the style, movement, gesture, and mood of his subject.”

Colors, Expression, and the Art of Immersion

Blurring Boundaries, Building Beauty – From Nature to Canvas

A visionary artist whose work spans painting, illustration, and sculpture, deeply influenced by the bold colors of the 1970s and the expressive energy of Abstract Expressionism. A graduate of the Ringling College of Art and Design, Jamie’s artistic evolution has been shaped by his travels, particularly his experiences painting in Provence, France, where the soft, luminous light further refined his mastery of color.

Rooted in both Eastern philosophy and modern street art, Jamie seamlessly blends large-scale abstract pieces with murals that transform public spaces. His work is not confined to traditional canvases—he sculpts immersive outdoor installations, including tea houses hidden in the forests of Vermont, drawing inspiration from the state’s landscapes, farmlands, and hardworking communities.

Jamie’s art has been featured in numerous exhibitions, including Curvature at the Gallery at the VAULT in Springfield, Vermont. Whether painting, sculpting, or building, his work reflects a profound connection to nature, travel, and the boundless possibilities of artistic expression.
